The Timeraiser is coming to London for the first time, brought to you in partnership with GenNext, United Way London & Middlesex, Pillar Nonprofit Network, London Community Foundation and London Arts Council are thrilled to collaborate to bring this unique event to London.
The Timeraiser is a silent art auction with a twist. Instead of bidding money, participants bid volunteer time to agencies that need their skills and energy. We buy all artwork at fair market value beforehand and auction it off on the night of the Timeraiser. The 1st ever London Timeraiser will be held on Thursday May 13th, 2010 and is a GenNext partnered event.
Successful auction bidders have 12 months to complete their volunteer pledge. When they do, they bring the artwork home as a reminder of their goodwill. During the 12 months after the Timeraiser, while participants are completing their volunteer hours, artwork will be displayed in the offices of corporate partners and in various community spaces.
To date, the Timeraiser has generated 52,000 volunteer hours and invested $310,000 in the careers of emerging Canadian artists.
