Sunshine Foundation: Dreams for Kids is a National orgainzation that fulfills dreams for children with severe physical disabilities or life threatening illnesses.A one-day adventure, DreamLifts involve chartering an aircraft to fly approximately 80 children to exciting destinations such as West Edmonton Mall, Walt Disney World in Florida or Disneyland in California. Medical volunteers accompany the children to ensure that their health needs are addressed and Sunshine volunteers fill the role of "buddy" to provide support and companionship throughout the day. As part of the eligibility criteria, children must be at least seven years of age, because the children must be able to endure a very long day and enjoy travelling without a parent. The cut off age is their 18th birthday.An opportunity for older children to go on an exciting adventure, DreamLifts are momentous events where kids visit a magical world outside of their day-to-day routine. Many of them also take pride in the fact that they were able to succeed without constant parental supervision.

The role of the proposal writer is to create and maintain any proposals needed for S.W.I.M. The proposal writer is the key to attaining a grant from federal and state government agencies, as well as from private foundations. They are the ones locating the different grant opportunities in which their organization seems applicable to. They must be knowledgeable in executing a proposal worthy of gaining a grant. The proposal writer must have knowledge of government terminology and procurement processes in order to execute a professional proposal for the organization to be seen as a legitimate place for a grant to be awarded. The proposal must prove that the organization is fit for the grant and has a valid organized strategy of how the grant will be used if it is granted. The proposal writer must have exceptional communication skills and the ability to deliver knowledge and input throughout the proposal strategy meetings, and throughout the planning, managing and executing of the proposal. The proposal writer has to be able to work with Executive Director on the needs of S.W.I.M. in order to input the ideas properly and professional into a written context within the proposal. The ideal candidate has completed their University degree in any of the fields of English, Marketing, Journalism or communications, in addition to experience within a business development, specifically in a proposal writing role.

The camp has rustic cabins, and it is situated on the beautiful shores of Lake Huron near Bayfield, ON. The Registrar is responsible for arranging for Campers to come to camp. This inlcudes preparing an application form, sending notices of camp to previous campers and community partners, selecting the campers, ensuring the medical and dietary concerns are emt, making travel arrangements and recommending camper cabin placements. The Registrar prepares an informaiton binder for the Camp Director. During the camp the Registrar maintains contact with campers and assists them with any issues they face. S/he ensures that they have transporation to return home. The transportation Co-ordinator reports to the Registrar.

The Satffing Co-ordinator is responsibile for recruiting 50 staff members and for organizing a training program in Jume and the day before camp begins. THe Staffing Co-ordinator co-facilitates daily staff meetings with cabin leaders in the morning and full staff meetings in the evening. THe Staff Co-ordinator co-facilitates staff closure at the conclusion of camp. THe Staff Co-ordinator monitors and supports all staff for ganerall well-being.

South London Neighbourhood Resource Centre - Volunteers Tutors
The South London Neighbourhood Resource Centre is starting a new tutoring program in September and volunteer tutors are needed! A great way to get your Community Hours for school! Tutoring will not be a set day but one that you and the student agree on ( just not Monday's as the library is not open and that is where the touting must be conducted) you are to COMMIT to1 hour 3 times a month. Ward visitors spend time socializing with clients on the ward. This may involve visiting, letter writing, playing cards, working on jig saw puzzles, crafts or games, etc. A volunteer must have patience as well as persistence as the occasion demands.
